The Little Sleeper

Emersyn has become more particular about sleeping. Mostly where she will sleep and who she wants to sleep on. She likes to be on the move, so she takes a lot of naps in Daddy's arms while he plays tennis on the Wii. Today she fell asleep while I was carrying her and putting away laundry.

Baby Einstein

Today I pulled out the baby Einstein exersaucer for Emersyn. She loved it and the big kids really loved it! They had fun spinning her around and showing her all the different toys. Mackenzie gave her a little puppet show with the dragon. Kenzie and Finn are so cute with the baby.

Kenzie's horses

Some kids have imaginary friends...Mackenzie has imaginary horses. Today she introduced me to her horse names Roses. She walked her over to me and said she's right here Mommy you can pet her. Then she told me about how she had taken Roses to school and let her teacher Mrs Jane visit with her. She has also given each member of the family a horse. There is Lemons, Carrots, Peaches and several others. She gets them out of the stable for us and takes them for walks around the house for us. She is very attentive to them and has reassured us that they are house broken. Sorry no pictures available at this time.

Spaghetti Social and Bowling

Tonight was the CPO spaghetti social at the base in Petaluma. They have it for every new chiefs class that comes through the academy and Jim was in charge of this one so we decided to join him. The kids were very excited about spaghetti, meatballs, garlic bread and of course chocolate cake! Kenzie was very interested to know about the 75 other people in the room sharing our dinner. 

After dinner we surprised the kids by taking them to the bowling alley on base. We decided that since Kenzie keeps beating us in Wii bowling it was time to show her the real thing. The first thing she said was "What are those balls for?". They put up the bumper for the kids and got out some little shoes, and light weight balls. Kenzie was very hesitant at very first but quickly got the hang of it. Finn was happy to help Daddy throw the ball down the lane and then run away. In the end Finn lost interest and just wanted to roll around on the floor, so Kenzie finished her game and Finn's. Kenzie ended bowling a 76, pretty good for a 4.5 year old out for the first time. I was finally able to meet Jim by 3 pins, although he did bowl one frame while holding a baby! It was a fun evening and it only cost us $7, just another great benefit of being a military family. We're thinking of making it a new Malcolm family tradition.

The Little Baker

Finnegan has become my little helper in the kitchen. He brings his stool into the kitchen whenever I start a baking project. He stands on his tiptoes to see what I'm doing and if I'm using my mixer he says "me counter" so he can sit up and help me pour in the ingredients. Tonight we made banana bread together. After I was finished he wanted a taste of the batter "me taste". He got a little carried away with the taste testing but it was so cute I just let him keep going.

Happy New Year

2010 is coming to a close and I look back in awe at this year and how quickly it passed. It has been a year of many challenges, adventures and life lessons. We started off the year by finding out there was a new Malcolm on the way. As parents of two children already, we were nervous. How would a third fit into the mix, how would this affect our move, how would I work. As fate would have it everything worked out just perfect. Our move went smoothly, at the last minute I was offered a great job, and to my surprise the most serene little girl entered our world. It has truly been a year of blessings. I am so thankful for my happy healthy family. 

Blue Cast

Finn had a diaper malfunction over night and his cast got all wet and stinky. Luckily the orthopedic office was able to see us this morning before the holiday. This was his third trip to the office so he has gotten pretty comfortable there, but he was still skeptical of the situation. They needed to saw off the old cast so they put headphones on him. He cried and snuggled up to Jim and then they turned on the saw. The nurse said he was all smiles! He watched her intently as she began cutting. Finn and Daddy decided on blue for this cast. They did a second x-ray and everything is healing nicely. Finn was very proud to come home and show me his "boo tass" (blue cast).
