Monterey

This weekend we headed to Monterey for Jim's big race. We got there Friday afternoon in time to pick up Jim's race packet and go out to dinner. On Saturday we got an early start and headed down to the cannery/wharf area to enjoy the view.
Our next stop was the Monterey Bay Aquarium. The Lums's happened to be in town so we were excited to meet up with them at the aquarium. Mackenzie really wanted to show Logan the touch tanks. They had fun touching the star fish and different kinds of shells. Lindsey was really into the seaweed. Mackenzie said her favorite part of the aquarium was the seahorse exhibit...not surprising.

Kenzie & Logan

After the aquarium we headed to the beach for a picnic lunch. Kenzie really wanted to test out the water. We tried to convince her that it would be cold, but she didn't care. She had so much fun running the surf. Finn decided he wasn't that daring and would just hang back in the sand.

After lunch we headed to south to the PCH to drive the race course and see some of the famous views of coastal California. We stopped at Bixby Bridge and then Pfeiffer Big Sur state park where we took a short hike to Pfeifer falls. The kids did great on the hike with minimal whining. After our hike we headed back up to Monterey for a seafood dinner on the pier. It was a busy fun filled day!

A walk in Mill Valley

Today we headed to Anne's house for a picnic lunch and then took a walk on the bike trail. We brought the kids bikes so Kenzie could work on her riding skills. She did great and really seemed confident. She was able to ride the entire time. Finn had fun but his little legs couldn't keep up. So we pushed him most of the time. He did let Anne have a turn on his bike and pushed her for a little.

Happy Easter

This morning we started our day by going to church with Mum Mum. Kenzie was very excited to wear her Easter dress and she did really good sitting still in the pew. Emersyn needed to get up and move around, but was happy to people watch. We decided Finn wasn't ready for the experience so he stayed home with Daddy.

After our chaotic experience at pioneer park's Easter egg hunt we decided to have our own hunt this morning so after church we hid eggs all over our front yard. The kids enjoyed the hunt with no competition, and were excited to see what goodies awaited them.

In the afternoon we had a family dinner with Mum Mum, Aunt Anne & Uncle Levi. It was a great family day.

Coloring Easter Eggs

Today we headed to Anne and Levi's for a little family cookout. We decided to bring our eggs with us to decorate before dinner. Mackenzie was very into trying out the different colors and even tried to make a few tie dyed. Finn was a little crazy, but managed to get few eggs into the colored water. We made a dozen eggs and only one broke. The best part we have lots of fun hard boiled eggs to eat this week.

A House in the Woods

as we depart the winding and twisty roads of the panoramic highway we head down the steep driveway
and onto the path, through the woods
through the little thatched door nestled in the ivy
to Anne & Levi's house we arrive
out onto the terrace, to a little garden. An oasis tucked into the hillside of the Marin headlands.
